Yeshua the Rabbi - The Jewish Life of Jesus
Jesus was Jewish. It sounds obvious — but you can spend years in church without learning much about the Jewish life He actually lived. Between Bethlehem and Golgotha, Yeshua was circumcised, attended synagogue on the Sabbath “as was His custom,” went up to Jerusalem for the festivals, read the Torah and the Prophets, and was called “Rabbi” by His disciples.
Welcome to the first lesson of a brand-new, year-long series on Shalom Y’all: 54 weeks focused entirely on Yeshua. Our first series, Yeshua the Rabbi, explores His life as a teacher. In this lesson, Beth Shulam walks through Matthew 1, Luke 2, Luke 4, and John 4 to show how the Gospels introduce Yeshua inside Israel’s story — and why removing that world causes words like Messiah, covenant, Passover, kingdom, and salvation to lose their biblical roots.
This week’s practice: pick one Gospel chapter and notice the Jewish world around Yeshua — Scripture quotations, synagogue, Sabbath, Jerusalem, festivals, Torah, and the Prophets.
