For centuries, Jewish people have been accused of killing Jesus. The accusation is sometimes expressed bluntly: “The Jews killed Christ.” In theological language, it is known as the charge of deicide, meaning the killing of God. This claim assigns collective responsibility for the crucifixion of Yeshua to the Jewish people as a whole. In its most extreme form, it treats that guilt as permanent and inherited by every generation of Jews. The charge is false.

Replacement theology is the belief that the church has replaced Israel as the people of God. In its strongest form, it teaches that the Jewish people lost their covenant standing because they rejected Yeshua, that the promises once given to Israel now belong exclusively to the church, and that Jewish life after the first century has little continuing place in God’s purposes.

Christian antisemitism is hostility, prejudice, contempt, or discrimination toward Jewish people that is expressed, encouraged, or justified through Christian beliefs, language, preaching, biblical interpretation, institutions, or cultural traditions.
