Shavuot stands at the meeting place of covenant, worship, harvest, and hope.

In Jewish tradition, the festival recalls both the wheat harvest and the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. Pilgrims journeyed to Jerusalem with thanksgiving and firstfruits, celebrating God’s provision and covenant faithfulness.

The New Testament places another moment in Jerusalem during Shavuot. In Acts 2, worshipers gathered from many nations witnessed the outpouring of the Ruach HaKodesh during the festival itself. Rather than replacing the earlier meaning of Shavuot, the moment builds upon it, connecting Sinai, covenant, and the promise of renewal spoken by the prophets.

This visual explainer traces how Shavuot continues to speak into Messianic hope today.
